Editing-film languages, building blocks and cut

We learnt about Editing-Film languages which involves the process of editing, the number of tasks which an editor has to do, what good editing is etc. This will help us with our preliminary task as we have to edit it when we finish filming it, it will help us to know what good editing is and how to show that in good continuity of the cuts.

We also learnt about building blocks which is basically when the editor takes different clips and adds one scene after another to form a sequence and will finally give a finished film

We also learnt about different types of cut:

• straight cut
• fade out
• dissolve
• wipe out
• jump out

This will help us in the preliminary task as when we make cuts, we can then choose different types of cut to show continuity and it will also help us in the main task as we can then show the different types of cut to create different meaning but also showing continuity
