Setting

In the lesson we learnt about settings in films, settings used in films are very rarely backgrounds to the character's dialogue and often see shots of places without any action taking place, it is more detailed. Also film makers can choose to build a setting from scratch using the bare walls and floor of a studio set. We also learnt what props reveal in films: time period, status- what the character is like e.g. cars, jewellery, money show that they are wealthy. From this, we can also link this into the practical side of media when we begin filming for the main task, as we need to think about all these things- setting, props, lighting etc. A key word we learnt from the lesson was incongruous which means something which does not fit in with the scene
